What Is Architrave?
Architrave is a popular door feature that is found in most homes.
Architrave is usually referred to as a doorway surround, door casing, or door trim since it is seen as a moulding between the doorway and the wall. Architrave may be created from a number of materials, the most common of which are various types of wood.
What Is A Door Lining?
A door lining is the frame that a door is fitted in. A new frame might be necessary if is not the right size, out of shape or damaged.
How Do I Know If My Oak Doors Need Oiling?
Hardwood doors can be purchased as unfinished or finished. Finished doors already has a several coats of oil from the manufacturer to give it a smooth finish. If a finished door needs to be cut down to fit into a door lining, we will re-apply Osmos door oil to the edge that has been cut to make sure it is properly sealed.
Unfinished doors will require oiling after the door has been installed and this is a service we offer. If you are unsure which one you have purchased you can always contact the store you have bought them from or send pictures to our team when you fill out your quote form who will be able to best advise.
Do Your Prices Include VAT?
Yes, all our prices include VAT So there are no extra costs.
Do your Prices Include Materials?
No, our prices are labour only so materials we need to be sourced by a supplier. We have a great relationship with the Door Store and if you need help understanding what you may need we offer home visits to help you.
Where Should I Get My Materials From?
We have a great relationship with the Door Store in which their customer service and quality products really measure up to our standards.
Why Is Hanging A Door In A Old Lining More Expensive?
Hanging a door into a previously fitted lining can require extra work due to the frame potentially being out of square or level. This can be because of shifting over multiple years or poorly fitted. We make sure our doors are fitted to match these angles and shapes so visually the door looks straight and neat no matter the shape of the frame.
We also fill and sand down the old frame where the previous hinge holes and strike plate holes where necessary before fitting the new door so you are not left with any unsightly gaps and holes in the frame next to your new door. This is all included in your cost
